Lois Greene

Lois Greene, 91, of Kingsport, passed away Monday, August 5, 2024. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt who loved everyone. Lois worked for the Press before becoming a full-time mother. Lois and Homer had green thumbs and could make anything grow. She was the best cook and canner and was known for her green beans and tomatoes. Lois had a great sense of humor, was a great friend to all, and was an honorary mother to all that entered the home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Emily Church Lawson; her husband, Homer Greene; and siblings, Joan Lawson Frye, Carl Lawson, George Lawson, Jerry Lawson, and Brenda Baker.

Lois is survived by her children, Crystal Greene Danos (Chris) and Homer Cletis Greene, II (Susan); grandchildren, Christopher Danos and girlfriend Marysia LaRosa, Nicholas Danos, Daniel Greene and fiancée Lauren Garrison, and Caleb Greene; siblings, Bertie Mullins, Paul Lawson and Jennifer Williams; niece, Jonna Williams; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow with Tim Wooten and Bob Baker officiating.

A private family graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Hamlett-Dobson Memorial Park in Blountville.
