Lois June Hamilton, 87, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, December  5, 2019 at The Wexford House following a period of declining health.  Born in Sullivan County, TN on March 4, 1932, a daughter of the late Roy L. and Cora Zimmerman Irvin, she had resided in this area her entire life. She graduated from Holston High School.  Lois retired from the Sullivan County School System in 1994 following 39 years of service. She was an administrative secretary.  Lois was a member of Fordtown Baptist Church.  She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mom, Momma June, Memaw, Junebug and friend who loved to cook and to be with her family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to The Wexford House, CAN’s, LPN’s and Amedisys Hospice who gave her loving care on Hall 300.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her ex-husband, George Mack Hamilton, brother, Wallace Irvin, and son-in-law, Robert Michael Day.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Tamara L. Day of Kingsport; son, George Roderick “Rick” Hamilton and wife, Jan of Kingsport; 2 grandchildren, Josh Brown and special friend, Tonya of Kingsport and his children, Joslyn, Jax and Dayton Brown, and Jason Brown and wife, Stephanie of Gray and their son, Carter Brown.

The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 pm on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.  Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm in the chapel with Rev. Bryan Moore officiating. Special music will be provided by Dick and Anita Basham.  Burial will follow in Fordtown Baptist Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
