Lola McLain Wilcox, 83, of 2507 Beech Creek Road, Rogersville, TN. went home to be with the Lord and her husband at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 21, 2010 at her home following an extended illness.
Lola was born in Pennington Gap, VA. and lived in the Beech Creek Community for most of her life. She had been a faithful member of Van Hill Free Will Baptist Church since 1953. She served as church clerk, treasurer, teacher and ladies auxiliary. Lola was also an auxiliary member of the Goshen Valley Volunteer Fire Department. She was a friend and neighbor in her community. Lola was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl L. Wilcox; her parents Don and Polly McLain; one sister Anna E. McLain; and two brothers: Billy McLain and Don McLain, Jr.
She is survived by two daughters: Judy Hensley and husband Joe of Rogersville, Callie Ward and husband Danny of Rogersville; two sons: Pat Wilcox of Rogersville, Phillip Wilcox and wife Lisa of Rogersville; five grandchildren: Shelley Hensley Letts and husband Mike, Dustin Wilcox, Rachel Wilcox, Skyler Wilcox and Dillon Wilcox; four great-grandchildren: Ashlyn, Landyn, Kaden and Karma; two sisters: Pauline Ball of Van Hill Community and Kate Tip Simpson of Kingsport; two brothers: Rev. Jim McLain and wife Olena of Greentop, MO., Joe McLain of Summerville, SC.; one sister-in-law: Ora Wilcox Fields of Kingsport; one brother-in-law: Jack Wilcox and wife Dora of California; several nieces and nephews and her Van Hill Church family.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Van Hill Free Will Baptist Church, 2194 Beech Creek Road, Rogersville. Her body will remain at the church Tuesday evening.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24 at Van Hill Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Willis and Pastor Pete Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Beech Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Skyler Wilcox, Dustin Wilcox, Johnny Ball, Jimmy Ball, Gale Arnold, Jeremy Smith, Frankie McLain and Jessie Bishop. Honorary pallbearers include: Glen Arnold, Elmo Jones, Steve Morelock, Clyde Morelock, Branch Morelock, Sam Hensley and her many Brothers in Christ.
