Lorene Phillips Salley

Lorene Phillips Salley, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2019 surrounded by loved ones on Monday afternoon.   Formerly of Big Stone Gap, Virginia, Lorene was charter member of the Eastern Star Chapter 157.  She was a devout Christian and a member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church where she worshipped for many years.

Lorene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Emmitt Salley; her parents, Evan and Lou Phillips;  brothers, Ralph and Bill Phillips; sisters, Faye Sloan, Georgia Whitmore, Mae Phillips, Wilma Phillips, and Jean Sloan; and special friend, Thomas Page.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Linda (Doug) Shuler, Phyllis (Lowell) Hunley, and Spencer Salley; sister, Mary (Wendell) Price; grandchildren, Travis and Lori Shuler; great-grandchildren, Brody, Baylor, and Whitley, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 14th, 2019, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m.  with Dr. Greg Burton officiating. A short graveside service will take place on Friday, November 15th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, Virginia.  Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12 noon to go in procession to the cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
