Lotus Morrison Burton, 96, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 17, 2025 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Lotus was born in Greene County and was raised in Fall Branch. She resided in Dayton, Ohio with husband, Paul for many years. Then afterwards moved to Kingsport. Lotus was a member of Mafair United Methodist Church. She enjoyed taking care of her animals and her flowers.
Lotus was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Rose P. Morrison; brother, Carl Morrison; sister, Margaret Layne; special uncle and aunt, Willard and Vergie Burton; niece, Collen Malone; and sister-in-law, Beulah Morrison.
Survivors include sisters, Shirley Campbell and husband Jim, Hazel Wallace and husband Clayton; brother, Robert H.C. Burton and wife, Verne Ruth; niece, Melissa Lawson and husband Bob; great-nieces, Angela King and Dena Jensen; and special friend, Judy Gause.
Special thanks to caregivers Lesley, Janet, Enda, MaryLou, Earnestine and Libby, Gentiva Hospice nurses Shayla and Kesley, and Holston Valley Hospice.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Minister of Congregational Care and Parish Nurse, Rev. Joy Eastridge officiating.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025 at 3:00pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park, with Rev. Adam Love, officiating.
Those attending graveside services are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 2:45pm Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
