Louis D. Moore Jr

Louis Doyle Moore, Jr. went home to be with the Lord on May 29, 2013, after a short stay at Asbury.

He was born on September 16th, 1926, the son of Louis Doyle Moore, Sr. and Ione Bond Moore. Louis graduated from Toccoa High School in 1943 and then served in WW II in the Army Air Corp. He graduated from Duke University in 1947 (Phi Beta Kappa) and received his PhD in Physical Chemistry from MIT in 1951.

Louis married Mary Belton Bond on June 8, 1948 in Toccoa, GA. They moved to Kingsport in 1951 where Louis was a chemist for Tennessee Eastman Corporation for 30 years. After Belton's death Louis taught English in Dongying, China with ELIC for one year. He returned to Kingsport and married Betty Harmon on June 1, 1991.

He was predeceased by Belton Bond Moore (Sept. 25, 1988).

Louis is survived by his wife, Betty Moore; children, India Sillampa and Louis Doyle Moore, III; step-children, Pat Harmon and Tim Harmon; grandchildren, Cristen Horihan, David Schaefer, Matthew Schaefer, Benjamin Schaefer, Zachary Schaefer, Strock Moore, Stewart Moore, Ben Harmon, Beth Harmon, and Joey Harmon; and sister, Bond Harris of Toccoa, GA.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-8:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 2:00 pm at First Broad Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Mickey Rainwater and Rev. Spurgeon McCartt officiating.

Graveside services will be held on Monday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Royston, GA.
