Louise R. Carpenter

Louise R. Carpenter, 97, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2011. Born in Dante, VA, she had resided in Kingsport since 1941. Mrs. Carpenter was a homemaker and charter member of Waverly Road Presbyterian Church. She was the daughter of Reece and Louvina Murray Rudder.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt Carpenter; son, James Hoyt Carpenter; infant daughter, Nancy Jean Carpenter; son-in-law, James Peebles; brothers, Marvin Rudder, Robert C. Rudder and James D. Rudder; sisters, Bess Rudder, Gladys Rudder, Christine Evans, Marie Seale, Aliese Sykes, Mae Banner and infant, Bonnie Kate Rudder.

Louise is survived by daughters, Diane C. Peebles of Stokesdale, NC, and Susan C. Whipple of Kingsport; brother, Harry Rudder of Winston-Salem, NC; daughter-in-law, Judy Carpenter of Smyrna, GA; grandchildren, James Carpenter of Long Beach, CA, Katherine Peebles of Greensboro, NC, David Whipple of Knoxville, TN, Kristen Saylor of Knoxville, TN, Michael Whipple and wife, Valerie of Brookeville, MD, Ben Peebles of Stokesdale, NC, Amy Steere and husband, Christopher of Reidsville, NC and Peter Whipple of Kingsport; great-grandchildren, Cade and Cassidy Carpenter, Jake and Courtney Saylor, Jessica and Megan Steere, Abigail Peebles, Bailey, Lauren and Preston Whipple, Keira and Aisling Whipple; several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Waverly Road Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dan Clark officiating.

Interment will follow the funeral services at Glenwood Cemetery in Bristol.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, David Whipple, Michael Whipple, Peter Whipple, James Carpenter, Ben Peebles and Christopher Steere.

The family would like to make special thanks to Mary, Edna, Kim, the staff at the Palliative Care unit at Wilcox Hall, Dr. Melania Bochis and the ETSU Physicians and Associates.
