Louise Murphy Hawk, 88, died Friday, April 18, 2008, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born January 24, 1920 in Gainesville, GA and grew up in Talmo, GA. She attended the University of Georgia and was active in the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority all during her life.
Louise was an active member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church where she served on various committees and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Always known for her sweet and caring nature, she worked at the First Presbyterian Church Clothes Closet. Louise loved flower gardening, golf, sewing, playing bridge, and reading.
She was preceded in death by her parents, King and Irene Murphy; her brother, Hayne Murphy; and her husband, Oliver "Brud" Hawk.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Ann Gibson and Michael Gibson, Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Murphy Hawk and Kathy Hawk, Kingsport; and granddaughters, Cristin McKenzie Gibson, Knoxville and Whitney Shea Gibson, Conway, SC.
Family graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Memorial services will be conducted in the chapel of First Broad Street United Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. Monday with Dr. J. Spurgeon McCartt, former pastor of First Broad Street United Methodist Church, and Rev. John Brewster officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service at the church.
