Louise "Lou" C. Skeens, 72, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Friday, February 1, 2008 following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 1, 1935 and was raised in Sullivan County where she spent her entire life. Lou was strong in her faith and loved by all who knew her. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Lou was a faithful servant of the Apostolic faith for 29 years. She attended Faith Apostolic Church of Church Hill.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Joe Frank and Annis Christian and one brother, Otis Christian.
Surviving are two daughters, Debbie Williams and husband Butch, Gate City, VA and Rebecca Jaynes and husband Neal, Kingsport; four sons, Roy Skeens Jr. and wife Rhonda, Surgoinsville, Danny Skeens and wife Aneida, Fall Branch, Michael Skeens and wife Joyce, Wauseon, OH, and Jamie Anderson and wife Beth, Jonesborough; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way; four sisters, Laura Craig and husband Wayne, Athens, GA, Frances Monroe and husband Randall, Kingsport, Shirley Lampkins and husband Robert, Kingsport, Lois Lisenby and husband Bill, Kingsport; two brothers, Gene Christian and wife Margaret, Mount Carmel, and James Christian, Johnson City; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Margaret Carter, JoAnn Sankey, Cecile Collier, and Clara Smith.
Calling hours are from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Services will follow at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Chris Cody, Bishop Hagen Webb, and Rev. Greg Street officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Bill Lisenby, Tony Surgener, B. J. Williams, David Monroe, Bobby Wallace, Junior Gilliam, and Austin Pickering.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Lampkins, Travis Skeens, and Justin Skeens.
