Lucion Dockery

Lucion Dockery, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 22, 2013.

He was born in Slant, VA, June 9, 1921, and was the son of the late Henry Clay and Laurie Dockery. He worked 43 years at Eastman in Jet Services. He was saved at an early age, attended churches in Slant, and sang with his brothers and sisters. He helped build Golda Memorial Methodist Church in Hillcrest so that the community could have a church, where he was also a member.

In addition to his parents, Lucion was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Carr Dockery; brothers, Warren Dockery, Brownie Dockery, Arnie Dockery, and Emmett Dockery; sisters, Ona Kendricks, Molly Thacker, Mauda Hartgrove, and Edith Gilliam.

He is survived by daughter, Katherine Dockery Carroll and husband Roy, Kingsport; granddaughter, Elizabeth Carroll Tritapoe and husband, Phillip; great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Zeke, Rhian, Abigail Katherine Tritapoe of Rodman, New York; daughter, Barbara Dockery Taylor, Fall Branch; son, Conley Dockery; grandson, Michael and wife, Monica, Yuma, AZ; granddaughter, Andrea and husband Todd; great-granddaughter, Makayla Caliborne, Rutledge, TN. Lucion devoted his life to his family, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at any time at Roy and Katherine Carroll's home.

Additionally, visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2013, at Hamlett-Dobson Chapel, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Davenport, and Stanley Hite officiating and music by Rev. Jerry Davenport.

The graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2013, at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Carroll, Stanley Hite, Mike Dockery, Elizabeth Tritapoe, Andrea Caliborne, and Phillip Tritapoe.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Wexford House nursing staff on 4 Wing for the special care Lucion received.
