Lucy Dimple Surgener, 99, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Wexford House. A native and lifelong resident of Kingsport, she was a member of Central Assembly of God Church where she had been church organist. She was a published songwriter, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by husband, Zora Surgener and son, Billy Joe Surgener.
Lucy is survived by three daughters, Doris Harkleroad, Shirley Riner and husband John, Gail Hooven; three sons, Samuel Surgener and wife Joyce, Howard Surgener, David Surgener and wife Barbara; daughter-in-law, Joyce Surgener; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 12, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles Bogle officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Andy Riner, Dylan Hooven, Denver Hooven and Michael Surgener.
