Lular Marie Phillips, 96, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the home of a very special niece, Charlotte Richards, with whom she made her home for the past 7 years after declining health. She was a homemaker and loved working in her yard and flowerbeds.
Lular was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond O. Phillips; parents, William and Nannie (Jones) Pannell; son, Gary Phillips; stepson, Raymond Phillips, Jr.; step-daughter, Virginia Hicks; step-grandson, Bobby Phillips; and was the last of 12 siblings.
She is survived by step-granddaughters, Brenda Begley and husband, Harold, and Marilyn Davis and husband, Keith; several great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mary Pannell Allen of Fairborn, Ohio; many nieces and nephews; three great-great-nieces, Whitney, Sarah and Rebekah; four great-great-great-nieces, Makayla, Makenzie, Kaylee and Kurstyn, whom she loved dearly and who showed unconditional love for her in return.
The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Brandon, Amy, Stephanie and Lindsey, who showed love, along with professional care for her.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 4 p.m. with Gary Bruce Crumbley, Jr. officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
