Lurley Mae Cox, age 94, of Fall Branch, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 17, 2025. Born in Sullivan County, she lived most of her life in Fall Branch. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church for 57 years. Lurley graduated from Sullivan High School in 1951. She worked at Eastman Chemical Company for 15 years. Lurley also worked as a cook at Wrights cafeteria.
Lurley was preceded in death by her husband, Earl L. Cox; two sisters, Lucy Ledbetter and Jean Ledbetter Sheldon; three brothers, George, William Delano and Ernest Kenneth Ledbetter.
She is survived by her son, David Cox (Melissa), two grandsons, Joshua Cox and Preston Cox (Alexa); one brother, Melvin Wayne Ledbetter; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4pm – 6pm on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Harmony Baptist Church (old sanctuary). A service will follow at 6pm with Pastor Steve Pate officiating. Graveside committal service will take place at 11am on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Harmony Baptist Church (old sanctuary). Burial will follow at Bacon-Kincheloe Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
