Luther Beauregard "Beau" Travis, 50, Kingsport, passed away on Monday, April 23rd, at 1:30 am at his home with his family following an extended courageous battle with cancer. He was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. Beau was a former employee of the Kingsport Times News and was a painter for Gale Bishop prior to his illness. Beau was an avid player of disc golf and a motorcycle enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Nelle P. Travis; maternal grandfather, Sidney L. Stewart; and aunt, Sally Pratt.
Beau is survived by his parents, Luther and Cindy Travis of Kingsport; brother, Bart Travis of Kingsport; sisters, Reneé Dykes and husband, Timmy of Kingsport, and Rakiel Ashbrook and husband, Chris of Kingsport; maternal grandmother, Leona Stewart of Nickelsville, VA; nieces and nephews, Jessica Slaughter, Quinton Travis, Oren Barnette, Sylvia Barnette, Amanda Dykes, Megan Dykes and Travis Dykes; great-nieces and great-nephews, Emma Jayne Slaughter, Carter Slaughter due in July, Ashlynn Barnette and Macy Bear; and uncle, Tom Pratt, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 25th, from 6-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm with Brother Ed Barnette officiating.
