Lyman Hawley Reynolds

Lyman Hawley Reynolds, Sr., 81, passed peacefully August the 9th. He was born and lived in Bristol, Virginia where he met his bride of sixty years.

Following graduation as valedictorian from Virginia High, he attended Virginia Tech where he was valedictorian of his class in the School of Engineering. Upon graduation he served his country in the U.S. Army reaching the rank of Captain. He began his career with Eastman Kodak in Rochester, New York. He moved his young family to Kingsport in 1958 where he worked for Tennessee Eastman until his retirement in 1982. After retiring, he remained active in his church, First Baptist, where he served as a Deacon for several terms over the years. He was appointed to the State Health Planning Commission by then Governor Dunn. He remained an active participant in Habitat for Humanity throughout his years as well as a lifelong member of Civitan.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Reynolds, his son, Lyman Reynolds, Jr., and his wife Jill Reynolds of Jupiter, Florida, his daughter, Lisa Reynolds of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren, Rebecca Reynolds of Shelbyville, Kentucky, Rachel Westerwelle and her husband, Fabian Westerwelle of Washington, D.C.. He is also survived by his brother Edward Reynolds, Jr. and his wife Nancy Reynolds of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, his nephew Edward Reynolds, III of Kingsport, Tennessee, his niece Judy Merrick of Plymouth, Massachusetts. Sister-in-law, Carolyn Culp and husband Barry Culp of Evans, Georgia.

Graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 12th, 1:30pm at Glenwood Cemetery, Bristol, Tennessee. A memorial service will follow at First Baptist Church in Kingsport, Tennessee, Tuesday 3:00pm with Dr. Marvin Cameron and The Rev. Charles Conrad McNeer officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
