M. Ruth Cunningham Roller

M. Ruth Cunningham Roller, Kingsport, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Wilcox Hall at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a lengthy time in the hospital and at NHC.

Ruth retired from the office at Proffitt's. She was involved in many activities including teaching children's Sunday school at Sunnyside Baptist Church, playing the piano, camping, traveling, working in her flower garden, and cooking,. Everyone knew her for her cooking, especially her baking. Ruth was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church and a faithful servant of the Lord. She practiced daily devotions and checked on the sick regularly. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews and her granddaughter, Angelica Roller.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gene M. Roller; her parents, Merch and Nina Cunningham; brothers, L.V., Ervin, and Harold Cunningham; and goddaughter, Janet Quillen.

Ruth is survived by her brother, Gaylord Cunningham; sister, Edith Patterson; several nieces and nephews; and her close, special friend, Bill Dove.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will follow at 7 pm with Rev. Roy Graves and Rev. Bob Ferguson officiating.

Graveside services will be at 11 am on Thursday at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Ruth's nephews: Doug Patterson, A.J. Patterson, Steve Snodgrass, Marty Roller, Nick Thomas, Danny Surgenor, and Marion Cunningham.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sunnyside Baptist Church, 406 Cooks Valley Rd., Kingsport, TN 37664.
