Mabel Dingus Vicars, 88, Kingsport, died at 6:45 p.m. Sunday November 15, 2009 at The Wexford House.
Born in Fort Blackmore, VA, Mabel attended school there and later moved to Detroit, MI, where she lived for about 20 years while managing a department store. Mabel later retired from Rental Uniform and then resided in Blackwater, VA for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kay Vicars and four brothers, Lee, Paul, John, and Ira Dingus, Jr.
Mabel is survived by sisters, Elsie Dingus Cunningham of Kingsport and Bonnie Dingus Hall of Bryan, OH; three brothers, Don Dingus of Kingsport, Lester Dingus of Greeneville, and Jack Dingus of Kingsport; seven special nieces and nephews, Wanda Martin of Johnson City, Tammy Stapleton of Kingsport, Jackie Dingus of Kingsport, Cecil Dingus of Rogersville, Brittany Murray, Kristen Martin, and Michael Martin; and several other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 7:30 p.m. with Pastor J.W. Depew officiating.
A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Vicars Family Cemetery in Blackwater, VA.
