Maggie Sandidge Fansler, 87, "Mamaw Maggie" to all who knew her, went to be with the Lord on August 19, 2009. Maggie was born in Scott County, VA, but lived most of her life in Kingsport, TN. She was of the Baptist faith.
Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Orpha Sandidge; her brother, George Sandidge; her husband Earl Fansler; and her daughter, Linda Fansler McGhee.
Surviving are her son, Tom Fansler, Kingsport; son-in-law, Jimmie McGhee, Kingsport; grandson DeWayne McGhee, Kingsport; granddaughter, Jaime McGhee McClellan and husband Travis of Mount Carmel; and four wonderful grandchildren: Logan and Angel McGhee and Tyler and Connor McClellan. And also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Mamaw Maggie loved camping, fishing, gardening, mowing and weed eating. She was extremely independent and known to take the chainsaw away from others because "they just didn't do it right". She has always been a hard worker and expected the same of others. Mamaw loved to tell stories from her past. Her passion was playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She has always been good to people and told us to be good to others as well. This was a very important part of who she was.
Maggie's family would like to thank Holston Manor, Amedisys Hospice of Kingsport and Indian Path Medical Center and ICU. A very significant thank you to these special caregivers: Amanda, Beth, Deborah, Doreen, Earlene, Gary, Glenda, Nikki, Peggy 1, Peggy 2, Ruby, and Sandra, Dr. Daryl Pierce and Dr. Matthews.
