Mamaw Stissel

Katheryn "Mamaw" Stissel, age 76, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at her residence following a short illness. Born in Raven, Virginia on July 14, 1942, a daughter of the late Milborn and Elva "A" Griffith, she had resided in this area since 1961 and was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. She married Cloudous Stissel on August 30, 1959 in Richlands, VA and was a former nurse's aide. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and was many things to many people.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ballad Hospice and Tammy Payne.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Milbourne Griffith Jr. and sister, Bonnie Griffith.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Cloudous Stissel; daughter, Melissa Overbay; son, Bobby Stissel and wife, Darlene; grandchildren, Brandon Stissel, Anthony Overbay, Natasha Cradic, Shauna Jones, Dennie Henson, Kyler Cradic, and Kura Queen; siblings, Lawrence Griffith, Paul Griffith and wife, Diane, Peggy Wells and husband, Jim, and Mary Morris and husband, Jerry; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Whittemore officiating. Entombment services will follow in the East Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum #2.
Pallbearers will be William Poe, Mike Poe, Dennie Henson and Hunter Hensley.
