Margaret White Bailey, 87, a very special soul, loving wife, mother and aunt, was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 11, 2011. She was born in Derby, VA and moved to Norton after her marriage. She was a graduate of Appalachian High School, a dedicated member of The Red Hat society and member of Crossroads Methodist Church in Kingsport. Margaret was employed as a bookkeeper by P&P Wholesale in Pennington Gap when she retired. She enjoyed a very active retirement and especially enjoyed many special holidays with her many friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tolbert Bascom Bailey; parents, Alice Peters White and Robert Thomas White; sister Ruth Johnson and brothers-in-law, Paul Johnson and Dick Henry.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jane Ellen Bailey Hartley and James E. Hartley; granddog, Buffey; sister, Mary Henry; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, who were all very special to her and she to them.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home. The service will begin at 6 p.m. with Pastor Randy Lantz officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA with son-in-law, James Hartley officiating.
Special thanks goes out to the staff of Church Hill Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center and the very special people who participated in her care. She loved them and felt they were her friends. She was also close to the administrator and office staff. This is a special group of loving, caring people. We would also like to thank everyone at Caris Healthcare, who made her last weeks on Earth wonderful.
