Margaret H. Canter

Margaret H. Canter, 80, of Unicoi, passed away peacefully and is now in the hands of the Lord, on Thursday, May 22, 2014. A native of Camden, SC, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lela Davis Rhodus. Margaret graduated with highest honors from nursing school in 1957. She was a former resident of Bristol, TN for many years.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert "Sunny" Rhodus and sister, Sarah Mayer.

Margaret is survived by her sons, Jim Canter of Bristol, TN, and John Canter and wife, Kitty of Church Hill; grandchildren, Zachary Canter and fiancée, Kate of Mt. Carmel, and Kenny Canter of California; Rachel Gross and Carrie Gross, Abingdon, VA; brother, "Bill" Rhodus and wife, Rita of South Carolina; sisters, Mary Loudin of Nashville and Barbara Curtis of South Carolina; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A special thank you to the staff of Erwin Healthcare Center and Johnson City Medical Center for the care they gave Margaret. And thank you to Pastor Keith Cobb for being there in our time of great need.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4-6:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

Graveside services will be conducted on Sunday at 3:00 pm in Pine Hill Cemetery in Wallace, VA with Pastor Keith Cobb officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of one's choice.
