Margaret Morrissey Lane

Margaret Morrissey Lane, 90, of Kingsport, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018, at home following a period of declining health. After graduating from Dobyns Bennett, Class of 1946, Margaret began her secretarial and bookkeeping career at Mason Dixon and retired as bookkeeper for the Kingsport City Schools School Food Services. She was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church where she was the oldest in the membership longevity. Margaret was a devoted fan of the Dobyns Bennett Indians and the Tennessee Vols and Lady Vols. She also enjoyed all facets of needlework and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Lillian Morrissey; husband, Delbert (Deb) Lane; and son-in-law, James S. Herbert, Jr.

Left to cherish her memory, her devoted daughter, Donna Lane-Herbert; son, Stephen Lane; four grandchildren, Dr. Christopher Rowe, Cathy Watson, Dr. Elizabeth Welch, and Becky Lane, and their spouses; and seven great-grandchildren, Aidan, Charlotte, Connor, Anna Cait, Abby, Allie, and Maggie.

The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 6:30 p.m. with The Rev. Jack Edwards and The Rev. Jack Weikel officiating.

Private entombment will be held at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

The family wishes to thank Wellmont Hospice nurses and staff, especially Nina, Heather, and Skye. A special thank you to Steve and Judy Almaroad, Tina Shell, Bill and Betty Thurman, and Drs. Carver, Stakias, Mather, and Mather and staff for their compassion and support during Mother's declining health.
