Margaret Pope Myers

Margaret Pope Myers, 81, of Kingsport, departed this physical world and went to her heavenly home on Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after fighting the good fight. Born in Kingsport, TN on March 1, 1934, a daughter of the late Lloyd "Poppy" and Della "Granny" Browder Pope, she had resided in this area her entire life. She worked at W.T. Grant but retired from Palace Vending.

She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mom, "maw", sister and friend who loved gardening. Margaret attended Salem United Methodist Church

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 3rd floor staff of Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Wilcox Hall.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Claude Roger Myers; brothers, Emmett Pope, LeRoy Pope and Ray Pope; and sons-in-law, Jerry Davis and Craig Christian.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Claude Myers of the home; three children, Kyle Myers and wife, Jennifer of Blountville, Linda Davis Overbay and husband, Mark of Kingsport, and Aundrea Christian of Church Hill; daughter-in-law, Sandra Myers; six grandchildren, Ashley Brooke Davis, Heather Kirk and husband, Brian, Brent Davis and wife, Sheri, Kayla Christian, Jordan Christian and Jamie McMurray; two great-grandchildren, Gunner Kirk and Blake Davis; three brothers, Vance Pope and wife, Geri of Kingsport, Eugene Pope and wife, Evelyn of Blountville, and Ralph Pope and wife, Deloris of Kingsport; sister, Fannie McClain of Blountville; brother-in-law, J.D. "Frankie" Myers of Texas; sisters-in-law, Navada Haws of Johnson City, and Bonnie Greear of Virginia Beach, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm on Tuesday, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm with Rev. Lewis Kizer officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday at 11:00 am at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 10:45 am.

Pallbearers will be Brent Davis, Brian Kirk, Ronnie McClain, LeRoy Pope, Jr., Paul Pope, Donald Pope and Logan Thacker. Honorary pallbearers will be Gunner Kirk, Blake Davis, Mark Overbay, Eugene Pope, Vance Pope, Ralph Pope, Arnold Pope, Larry Pope, Corey Hicks and Jeren Hicks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Salem United Methodist Church Building Fund, 230 Boozy Creek Rd., Blountville, TN 37617.
