Margaret Light Ramey, 59, of Kingsport, passed away at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness. She had been a lifelong resident of Kingsport, employed by Greeneville Metals and Leon Ferenback Yarn Plant prior to retiring due to disability. She was of the Baptist faith. Margaret was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Ramey, Sr.; her parents, Carl "Grampus" and Mary Light; two brothers, Everett Shelton and Billy Jack Baines; and two nephews, Carl Thomas Light and Terry Lynn Light.
Margaret is survived by two sons, Roy E. Ramey, Jr., and wife Lisa, and Ronald J. Ramey and wife Amanda, all of Kingsport; one grandchild, Devon Ramey; two sisters, Velma Light and husband Everette, and Betty Melear, all of Kingsport; sister-in-law Glenda Baines, of Kingsport; three brothers, M. H. Baines and wife Midge, Leland Baines and Shirley, Carl Thomas Light and wife Alice Faye, all of Kingsport; sisters-in-law Shirley, Mary, Sue; brothers-in-law Marion, George, and Dewey Ramey; special friends Melba Bishop and Alfred Kennedy; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends anytime at her residence and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will follow at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Hal Calhoun officiating. Graveside services will be conducted on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Fall Branch United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Margaret's nephews will serve as pallbearers.
