Margaret Elizabeth Moody Shipley, 88, Mill Creek Road, went to be with the Lord at 5:00 a.m. Friday, November 23, 2007, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a period of poor health.
She was born in Washington County, Tennessee, and had lived in the Mill Creek area her entire life. Margaret was a graduate of Fall Branch High School and a member of Double Springs Baptist Church.
She was a homemaker, had helped her husband farm, and was a loving mother.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Roy Shipley; a son, Terry Shipley; her parents, J. D. and Charmie Moody; and two brothers, Denzil and Harry Moody.
Surviving are two daughters, Betty Williams and husband, Glen, Kingsport, Cookie Franklin and husband, Sherman, Kingsport; one son, Bud Shipley, Fall Branch; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Helen Chase, Kingsport; one sister-in-law, Wanda Moody, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret?s family wishes to express a special thanks to the nurses of 3rd Floor Wilcox Hall.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Emory United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Victor Wallace, Mr. Bob Harris, and Mr. Jim Jones officiating.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Shipley, Johnny Shipley, Logan Shipley, Junior Hall, Garney Wilson, Matt Williams, Mark Williams, and Jake Quillin.
