Margie L. Smith, 74, of Kingsport, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Indian Path Medical Center.
She was born August 19, 1933, in Wise County, Virginia, and attended Fairview School in Virginia. Margie attended Assembly Church of Lord Jesus Christ.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 54 years, Guy W. Smith; her father, William Jones; her mother, Dolly R. Bear; a son, Bobby L. Smith; a daughter, Kathy M. Smith; granddaughter, Melissa "Missy" Couch; great-grandson, Christopher "Dale" Gibbons; a sister, Annabelle Frazier; and two brothers, Delmer H. Jones and Billy G. Jones.
Surviving are two daughters, Evelyn L. Couch and husband James, and Karen E. Houseright and husband Daniel, all of Kingsport; five grandchildren Lisa F. English, Kathy Cox, Kevin Smith, Vickie Martin, Jacob Houseright; eleven great-grandchildren, Jessica Couch, Austin English, Kayla English, Andrew Smith, Ashley Smith, Kaylee Cox, Alisha Smith, Chelsea Smith, Kyler Martin, Kalista Martin, Kayden Martin; one sister, Christine Conner of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Herbert Smith and wife Charlotte of Kingsport, Howard Smith of Port Clinton, Ohio; and three sisters-in-law, Francis Dunn, Helen Roberts, and Mary Jones.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes. Funeral services will follow at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor J. W. Depew officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Holston View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Austin English, Jack Jones, Danny Jones, Johnny Roberts, Jerry Conner, and James Couch.
