Maria Combs Still, 77, of Kingsport, went to be with her loving Lord on August 25, 2019 after a brief illness. Born in Bluff City, TN, she was a graduate of Bluff City High School and resided in Kingsport most of her life. She was employed in the Purchasing Department of Holston Valley Hospital prior to working with her beloved husband, Stanley, in his Certified Public Accountant business. She was a longtime member of Kingsport’s First Broad Street United Methodist Church, a recent member of First Baptist Church and served in the Civitan Club for many years.
She was preceded in death by Candace, an infant child, who died shortly after birth; parents, William and Annie Combs of Bluff City, TN; husband, of 45 years, Stanley W. Still; brothers, Floyd and David Combs; and sisters, Lena Combs, Jennie Cawood, Kathi Bruce and Elizabeth Mount.
Maria is survived by three daughters, Janet Jones and husband, Barry of England, Laura Still and husband, Brent Minchey of Knoxville, TN, and Julie McMurray and husband, Greg of Mt. Pleasant, SC; grandchildren, Wylan, Erik, Mirela and Nicholas Werth of Santa Fe, NM, Winston Sullivan and wife, Sharon of Lawrence, KS, Brennan Sullivan and wife, Julie of Durham, NC, and Kit McMurry of Tampa FL; great-granddaughter, Ather Werth of Santa Fe, NM; sister, Betsy Hardin and husband, Dan; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 27, 2019 from 1-2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church Atrium, Church Circle, Kingsport, TN, with the Celebration of Life service for Maria taking place in the main sanctuary at 2:00 pm with Dr. Marvin Cameron of First Baptist officiating with capable assistance by The Rev. Jack P. Weikel of First Broad Street United Methodist Church and Susan Hoover ministering through music.
The family would like to extend a heart-felt “Thank You” and much appreciation to friends, fellow church members and the countless dedicated health care professionals who provided care during Maria’s illness. Extra special “Thanks” are offered to the loving, supportive church staff of First Baptist Church.
Pallbearers ministering to the family will be Ben Cheney, David Combs, Gary Frady, Mike Smythe, John Charles Still and Henere Valk.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring to do so may make a memorial contribution to First Baptist Church, 200 W. Church Circle, Kingsport, TN 37660 with the designation listed for the Sanctuary Choir Scholarship Fund.
