Marianna Schubert Kirkman, 87, Maryville, TN, formerly of Kingsport, TN passed away Saturday April 28, 2012 at Shannondale Health Care Center in Maryville.

Marianna was the eldest of two children born to Theodore and Thelma Kimes Schubert of Fostoria, Ohio and later Bedford, VA. She was a graduate of James Madison College of Virginia and was employed by the Kingsport Press before her marriage to James Vernon Kirkman in 1948. Mr. Kirkman passed away in 2005 after 57 years of marriage.

She was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church and of the Greer Sunday School Class.

Marianna took great pleasure in growing and arranging flowers, helping her children and other people, and shopping.

She is survived by her three children. Her youngest son, David Kirkman resides with his wife, Erin, daughter, Katie and son, Aidan in the Columbus, Ohio area. Her daughter, Mary Lynn Parker, resides in Doraville, GA with her husband, Charles. Oldest son, Ted Kirkman, wife Karen and daughter, Emily Marianna, live in Friendsville, TN.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm on Wednesday, May 2 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will be conducted at 3 pm Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Brenda Carroll and the Rev. Larry Carroll officiating.

Entombment will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.
