Marie Salley Compton

Marie Salley Compton, 95, of Kingsport went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 4, 2011.

Marie was the oldest member of the Kingsley United Methodist Church.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband John H. Compton, parents Otis and Fannie Salley, son Benny Compton and brother Talmadge Salley.

Survivors include her son, Coach John Allen Compton and wife Dolores of Kingsport and daughter-in-law Peggy Compton Grogg of Kingsport. Grandson Lance Compton, granddaughter Shonda Peters and husband David of Georgetown, Ky. Two great grandchildren, MaKenzie Nicole Peters and Anna Jade Peters. Two sisters, Myrl Faulk and husband Earl of Kingsport and Billie Jo Stafford of Kingsport. Nieces and nephews Toby Herron, Joyce Hamilton, Donnie Stafford and JoAnn Checkovich. Several great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Kingsley United Methodist Church between on Friday, August 5th between 1:00-3:00p.m. Please limit visitation to the church only due to an illness in the home. Services will be held at the Kingsley United Methodist Church on Friday, August 5th at 3:00p.m. with Reverend Raymond Amos. Graveside service to follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
