Marie Sampson Ketron, 80, Hiltons, VA, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2007, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was a lifelong resident of Scott County, VA and was of the Holiness faith.
Mrs. Ketron enjoyed attending classes with the Mountain Empire Older Citizens, Gate City, VA Group. That was the happiest times of her life since she had been stricken with Alzheimer?s.
She was preceded in death by her husband, I. J. Ketron 1990; son, Johnny Ketron 1991; daughter, Hazel Ketron Dykes 1996; two grandsons, Jeff Dykes 1999 and Johnny Michael Nelson 1999; parents, Jim and Ada Sampson; and one sister, Stella Bishop.
Surviving are three daughters, Judy Hutchins and husband, Jim, Kingsport, Clara Bishop and husband, Evangelist Gerald Bishop, Hiltons, VA, and Carolyn Nelson and husband, Mike of Kingsport; five sons, Raymond Ketron, Hiltons, VA, Hobert Ketron and wife, Felisha, Telford, TN, Joe Ketron and wife, Betty, James Ketron and wife, Melissa, and Josh Ketron and wife, Lora, all of Kingsport; twenty grandchildren, Rocky Hutchins, Melissa White, Jason Hutchins, Kenny Carter, Jimmy Hicks, Mark Gilliam, Anna Marie Crawford, James Dykes Jr., Crystal Coates, Jamie Sullivan, Matt Ketron, James Ketron, Isaac Ketron, Shawn Ketron, Derrick Ketron, Brad Ketron, Chase Graham, Makayla Ketron, Kristin Ketron, and Mackenzie Ketron; fourteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Carrie Bishop, Church Hill; two brothers, Bud Sampson, Kermit, VA, and H. C. Sampson and wife, Corrine, Richmond, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will follow at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Evangelist Gerald N. Bishop and Pastor Greg Street officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ketron Family Cemetery in Hiltons, VA.
Pallbearers will be Chase Graham, Shawn Ketron, Derrick Ketron, Brad Ketron, Jason Hutchins, James Ketron, and Mark Gilliam.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mountain Empire Older Citizens, Gate City, VA Group.
