Marie Brown Marsh McDavid, 78, a lifelong resident of Kingsport, had a massive strove on December 17, 2006 and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 while at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol.

Marie retired in 1990 after twenty-three years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport. In July 1998, Marie became a hospice patient and a symbol of hope when she graduated from hospice after 18 months of hospice care. In 2002, Marie developed breast cancer and once again became a symbol of hope when she became a breast cancer survivor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Hazel Ruth; and husbands, James Brown and Ed Marsh.

Those left to mourn are her loving son, David Brown of the home; loving daughter, Sheila Weldon and husband, Jerry of Knoxville, IA; grandson, Jeremy Brown and wife, Lisa; great-grandson, Gavin Brown, all of Carmel, IN; granddaughters, Amber Weldon of Knoxville, IA and Kristine Weldon of Chicago, IL; three step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren of Knoxville, IA; sister, Addie Mitchell and husband, Jack of Kingsport; one niece; two nephews; several cousins; and her beloved poodle, ?Baxter?.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

A celebration of her life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Stanley Sims of Blessed Hope Baptist Church officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.

Honorary pallbearers will be David Brown, Jeremy Brown, Jerry Weldon, Jimmy Bellamy, Chad Mitchell, Leon Gray, Jack Mitchell, and Steve Weldon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wellmont Hospice House, 280 Steeles Road, Bristol, TN 37620.
