Marie Ellis Pannell, 82, of Mount Carmel, passed away Monday January 1, 2007, at Indian Path Medical Center.
She was born in Hawkins County where she had lived her entire life. Mrs. Pannell retired from Tennessee Eastman Company in 1980 after 36 years of service in the cigarette filter testing area.
She enjoyed traveling and had visited nearly every state in the U.S.
Mrs. Pannell was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.
Her husband W. F. Pannell died in 1980. In additional her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, W. R. and Beulah Ellis, stepdaughter, Ruth Pannell, step-great grandson, Joshua Bentley, sister, Pauline Ellis, brothers, Walter Ellis, Herman Ellis, Eugene Ellis, Jack Ellis, and Donald Ellis.
Surviving her stepdaughter, Wanda Bentley and husband Paul, Kingsport, TN; brother, Frank Ellis and wife Eleanor, Mt. Carmel, TN; several step-grandchildren, several step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve Gott officiating.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Church Hill Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Barry Bentley, Harold Smith, Tracy Ellis, Johnny Webb, Phillip Ellis, and Clint Hurd.
Honorary pallbearers are Franklin Ellis, Walter Ellis Jr., and Curtis Ellis.
