Marie "Momo" Lennertz Throp

Marie "Momo" L. Throp, 75, of Kingsport, passed away at her home on June 12, 2015.

She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport, TN and a member of the Dobyns-Bennett High School class of '57. She worked at the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce, Watson's Lithographing, and retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 1995, after 33 years of service. She was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Momo loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and the many other friends and family who passed through her doors, which were always open. She loved to travel, most recently to visit family in Germany, but she loved coming home to Kingsport.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Throp; parents, Peter and Effie Lennertz; and sister, Alice Ann Lennertz.

Marie is survived by her son, Thom Throp of Kingsport; daughter, Vicki Throp Venezia and husband, John; granddaughters, Rachel Throp Ritter and husband, Gregory, and Regan Throp Pierce and husband, Jody; grandsons, Walker Throp and wife, Danielle, Josef Throp and fiancé Ashley Johnson, John Sterling Throp, Gabriel Throp, and Anthony Venezia; great-grandchildren, Adam, Noah, Lily, and Seth Ritter, Trenton, Jansen, and Hadley Throp; "other son" Jack Huntoon and wife, Michelle; "other grandchildren" Isaac, Abigail, and Joanna Huntoon of Maryville, TN; and lifelong friend, Bobbi Lynn Wilson.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with The Rev. Steve White officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

The family would like to thank Joanie, Linda, and Connie of Amedisys Hospice Services and Dr. Nakhoul, Courtney, and the entire staff at Wellmont Cancer Institute.
