Marilyn L. Parker

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Praise God there's peace after death.

Marilyn L. Parker, 57, of Kingsport, went to her eternal home in Heaven on Tuesday, January 5, 2016. Marilyn lived in Kingsport all her life. She graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1976 and went straight to work following high school. She worked for an insurance company for 2 ½ years and then for attorneys for 20 years. Marilyn took time off from working while her only son was in high school. She then worked for SPS and Cingular until a severe nerve damage disease forced her to stop working. She still had the disease as well as chronic heart and lung problems at the time of her death.

Marilyn was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, and was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary as long as her health permitted her to attend. She then listened to her church on the radio broadcast. She truly loved her church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles C. Parker, Sr., and Mary Emma Hilton Parker; a special niece, Tara Parker Dockery; the father of her son, Gary N., Sawyer, Sr., all of whom were Christians; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Marilyn is survived by her son, Charles S. (Chaz) Parker and wife, Ashley; grandson, Jackson Parker (Mamaw's Babydoll); brother, Charles C. Parker, Jr. and wife, Linda; special sister, Sandy Roach and husband, Lynn; niece, Tammy Maupin and husband, Jimmy and their children, Ashley Marshall and husband, Tim, Jordan Maupin, and Logan Maupin; great-niece, Blakely Dockery; great-nephews, Tristan and Tyler Dockery; several cousins; special friend, David Horn; and her two cats, Muffy and Ramzee.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 8, 2016, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Pleasant View Baptist Church, 2101 Stadium Drive, Kingsport, TN. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating. Music will be provided by the church choir.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Memorial contributions can be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church Radio Broadcast at the address listed above in memory of Marilyn.
