Mark Andrew Conkin, 38, of Kingsport, formerly of Knoxville, passed away Saturday morning, August 6, 2016, at the home of his parents, W. Kenneth and Brenda Conkin. Mark was born in Kingsport and had graduated from Sullivan South High School in 1996 and later from UT Chattanooga with a BS Degree in 2001. He obtained the rank of Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop #57 of the Glen Alpine United Methodist Church and was also a member of The Order of The Arrow. Mark was honored to be a torchbearer for the 1996 Olympic Games. He was a member of the Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Knoxville and was proud to have been a member of Sullivan Baptist Church where he grew up. Mark enjoyed camping, fishing and hiking and was an avid UT Athletics fan. He also enjoyed singing at various events and being the life of the party. Mark was a very loving father, son and brother, and friend to all.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth King Harper; paternal grandparents, Walter and Gladys Conkin; and special uncle, Larry Conkin.
In addition to his parents, Mark is survived by two daughters, Bailey Kay Conkin, and Blair Elizabeth Conkin; the mother of his children, Mary Michael Conkin; brother, Brian K. Conkin; two aunts, Sharon Pridemore and husband, Doug, and Tina Prater and husband, Jim; uncle Dennis Conkin and wife, Janet; cousins, Elizabeth C. Britt, Matthew Conkin, Jay Conkin, and Isaac Conkin; and several other cousins. Mark also leaves behind a host of friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4-7:00 pm at Sullivan Baptist Church. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Jeff Strong officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Conkin, Jay Conkin, Isaac Conkin, Steve Coker, Todd Mills, Jason McMurray, Andy Warrick, Brian Estep, Eric Shipley, Daniel O'Neill and Ricky McCallum.
Mark was an organ and tissue donor.
