Mark Lee Phillips, 60, of Kingsport passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011.
Born January 28, 1951 in Sullivan County, Mark graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School. He attended Wake Forest University until health problems forced his return home. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and History from ETSU. Mark worked for Kingsport Times News as a paper carrier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Jackson "C.J." and Edna Alice McConnell Phillips, Jr.; grandparents, Charles Jackson and Anna Pearl Smalling Phillips, Sr., William Sevier, and Martha Frances Smith McConnell; uncles, James E. Francisco, Sr., J.C. Hartsock, Eugene Good, William F. McConnell, Arthur P. Phillips, Clarence H. Cartwright, Sr.; aunts, Ethel Francisco, Hazel McConnell, Selma E. Cartwright, Katherine A. Phillips; and cousin Clarence H. Cartwright, Jr.
Survivors include his uncle Ubert Lee McConnell; aunts, Mary Lotus Good, Eliza Mae Hartsock, cousins, Daris Hartsock, Carolyn Good Irvin, William "Pat" Good, Teresa Robinson, Lee Ann McConnell, Phil Phillips, Judy Watson, Dorothy Kilgore, Jimmy Francisco, Bill Francisco.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will begin at 2 pm with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating.
Graveside services will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
