Martha Ross Walker, 94, of Kingsport, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2015, at Elmcroft Assisted Living. She was born in Greeneville, TN on July 10, 1921 and was the daughter of the late William Ogburn Ross and Rubye Bailey Ross.
Martha graduated from Greeneville High school and attended Tusculum College and East Tennessee Teacher's College. She was employed by Holston Ordinance before her marriage and becoming a fulltime homemaker. Later she worked as Sullivan County Law Court Clerk for 16 years before retiring in 1988. She was a faithful member of Bethel Presbyterian Church for over 60 years, where she volunteered as a substitute receptionist and also participated in the Meals on Wheels program.
She greatly enjoyed working in her strawberry patch and tending to her flowers.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Ned Walker; sisters, Joy Peters and Dorothy Babb; and one brother, William Ross, Jr.
Surviving are two daughters, Jane Campbell and husband, Lee of Harrisonburg, VA, and Susan Walker of Kingsport; son, Steven Walker and wife, Nancy of Kingston Springs, TN; and several special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 12-1:30 pm at Hamlet-Dobon Funeral Home, Kingsport. The memorial service will follow at 1:30 pm with Rev. Kaye Florence officiating.
Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
