Marvin C. Hagey, Jr.

Marvin C. Hagey, Jr., 88, of Colonial Heights, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended period of declining health. Born in Bristol, VA, he had lived in Kingsport for most of his life. Marvin was a student in the first graduating class of St. Dominic Catholic School, having graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School, Class of 1955. After graduating, Marvin served in the Tennessee National Guard, was employed by AFG and then Eastman Chemical Company as a Lab Technician, until retiring in 1999. He loved to ride his bike and enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Chandler Hagey, Sr. and Margaret Torbett Howard; stepson, Cary Carter; sisters, Linda Harrison and Carol Hicks; and brother, David Hagey.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Diane Kesterson Hagey; daughter, Karen Carrick (Gene); son, Michael C. Hagey; grandchildren, Benjamin (Ashley), Elizabeth (Tim), Anna Grace, Nicholas, Abby, and Sarah; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Jean Berry and Betty Gravens; brothers, William Hagey and Phillip Hagey (Leslie); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am on Monday, August 12, 2024, at St. Dominic Catholic Church with the funeral mass to follow.

Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Bristol, Tennessee.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
