Marvin Bernarr Knighten, 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at his residence, surrounded by his family following a period of declining health. Born on the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina to parents, James Marvin and Lola Faye Knighten, he was an over the road trucker for Asheville and Tri-Cities Wastepaper Products.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Gary Knighten and Carroll Knighten, and sisters, Laura Reynolds and Sybill Capps.
Marvin is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Knighten; children, Dorothy Stover and husband Phillip, Marvin E. Knighten, Linda Moore and husband Alex, Cynthia Robinson and husband Marlon, Angela Rollins and husband Donald, Phyllis Knighten and husband Bernard Guyton, Charlene Cobb and late husband Tony, and Derenda Mullinax; grandchildren, Destiny Stover, Isaiah Knighten, Delilah Jones, Shay Jones, Carrie Robinson, Michael Austin, Joseph Rollins, David Carver, Maria Cantrell, Gene Carver, Crystal Knighten, Angela Gregory, Lindsey DeBorde, and Gary Mullinax; and several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Faith Independent Baptist Church, 5 Ivy Park Drive, Weaverville, NC 28787.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at Faith Independent Baptist Church with Pastor Robert Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park, 1529 Smokey Park Hwy, Candler, NC 28715.
Pallbearers will be Michael Austin, Phillip Stover, Joseph Rollins, David Carver, Gene Carver, Marlon Robinson, Donald Rollins and Buddy Mehaffey.
