Marvin Wayne "Moose" McGill, 73, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at SunBridge Hillside following a brief illness.
Born in Gibson County, TN, he had resided in Kingsport most of his life and graduated from Sullivan High School. Mr. McGill served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict as a radio and radar technician. He graduated from East Tennessee State University with a bachelor's degree in Science and taught Industrial Arts in high school in Christiansburg , VA, before going into industry. Mr. McGill was in management at North Electric, Line Power Manufacturing, and also at Federal Pacific Transformer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte McGill; parents, Mitchell Barney McGill and Lillie Mae McGill; and brother, Mitch McGill.
Surviving are his daughter, Suzanne Walker and husband, Jeff of Kingsport; son, Mark McGill and wife, Tammy of Gray; two grandchildren, Lauren McGill and Kendall McGill; one great-granddaughter, Macie McGill; one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley Tate and husband Kellis of Kingsport; one brother, Ben McGill and wife Mae of Elizabethton; sister-in-law, Linda McGill of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will follow at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Friday officiating.
Military Graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post # 3/265 at 11 a.m. Saturday in East Lawn Memorial Park.
Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
