Mary Nell Blankenbecler, born 1920, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, November 8, 2007, at 6:00 p.m. after an extended illness.
She had lived in Kingsport the past 67 years and was a member of First Baptist Church of Kingsport, a member of Liberty Chapter #198 Order of Eastern Star, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Mary Nell was employed at Tennessee Eastman Company for 39 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E. B. ?Jitney? Blankenbecler; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, George and Mavis Pierce, Cecil and Gladys Pierce, and Hugh Pierce; and one sister, Alta Carr, all of Greene County.
Surviving are one sister, Ruby A. Pierce of Kingsport; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; a sister-in-law, Lizzie Fox of Greene County; special friends and neighbors, Linda Kirkland, Barbara Reedy, Gene and Chloe Marshall; and caregivers, Betty Maltsburger and Winnie Reed.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Dr. Marvin Cameron and Rev. Donnie Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Gene Marshall, Brad Pierce, Wes Pierce, Eric Pierce, Stacey Lowe, and Nathan Davis.
