Mary Bowen

Mary Bowen, 69, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord after a battle with cancer on Thursday, July 4, 2019.  Mary attended Pyburn Grade School and North Green High School. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.  Mary loved to cook, loved flowers and working in the church.  She was loved by her family, friends and her church family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burlie and Lucille Penley; brothers, Ralph, Roy, Frank, Fred, Paul, Darl and Ray Penley.

Mary is survived by her husband, Hagan R. Bowen; sister, Helen Penley; brothers, Carl and wife, Mary Lynn, Charlie Penley and wife, Bea, and Donnie Penley; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A special thanks to her niece and caregiver, Elizabeth Hope Bellamy.

The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 pm on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 6:00 pm with Dr. Donnie Brannen officiating.

The graveside service will be held on Monday at 11:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers James Karnes, Danny Livesay, Randy Smith, C.L. Shoemaker, Alvin Shoemaker and Scott Simons.  Honorary pallbearers will be Joel Callaway, Jim Wood, Lamar Herndon, Ron Edwards and Jim Wood.
