Mary Francis Clear, 95, of Kingsport, died on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Brookdale of Rock Springs, surrounded by her family. Mary was born and raised in Greene County, better known as “Green Shed” and graduated from Fall Branch High School. After attending business school, she went to work for the law firm of Wilson and Worley, where she served as a legal secretary for 50 years. At the end of her tenure, she served as a paralegal. She was married to Robert C. Clear for 61 years until his passing in 2017. Mary was famous for her weekly family Sunday suppers. She was an extremely hard worker and did so in an attempt to care for her family. Mary was a very loving wife, mother, and mamaw. She adored spending time with her grandchildren. She was a long-time member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Zona Wheeler; her husband, Robert C. Clear; sisters, Ruth and Ruby Wheeler.
Survivors include her son, Eric Clear and wife, Misty; grandchildren, Aarika Marshall and Jesse Clear; brother-in-law, David Clear and wife, Karen; sister-in-law, Drusilla Clear; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend absolute thanks and gratitude to the administration and staff at Brookdale Rock Springs as well as Amedysis Hospice for their continuous care and compassion for Mary.
A private inurnment will be held at First Broad Street United Methodist Church Courtyard with Phip Sams officiating.
