Mary Ruth DeFreece, 84, of the Bloomingdale Community, passed away Wednesday July 25, 2007 at the Wexford House.
A people oriented person and an avid animal lover, Ruth didn?t know a stranger. She was band mother of the year at Ketron High School and was a Patrol Mother at Kingsley Elementary School.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Charlie DeFreece, Sr. , Parents, P.H. Lawson and Betty Minnich, sister, Mildred Hipps, half sister, Bernice Dooley
Surviving are her three daughters Shelby Greear and husband Clarence, Church Hill, Brenda Doran husband Denver, Kingsport, Carolyn Layne and husband George, Hickory, N.C.; two sons, Charlie DeFreece, Jr., Kingsport, Gary DeFreece, Kingsport; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; eleven half sisters and brothers; two brothers, Hubert Lawson, Kingsport, Rhea Lawson, Knoxville, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Funeral Services will be conducted 12 noon Saturday in the Hamlett-Dobson Chapel with Rev. David Salley officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Haynes, David Stacy, Bill McDaniel, Henry Price, Tony Sigmon and Casey Wyke. Honorary Pallbearers are Denver Doran, Sr., Denver Doran, Jr. Clarence Greear, George Layne and Steve Hipps.
