Mary Duckwall of Kingsport went to be with the Lord Sunday, August 5, 2007, following a brief illness.
She was raised in west Tennessee, attended nursing school in Memphis, TN, and moved to Kingsport in the late 30?s where she received a job at Holston Valley Community Hospital. There she met and married Dr. Fred M. Duckwall. Mrs. Duckwall was a member of First Presbyterian Church, an active member of Doctor?s Wives, and an avid Bridge Player. She also enjoyed gardening and volunteering for Meals on Wheels.
Her husband, Dr. Fred M. Duckwall; four sisters; and one brother preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas F. Duckwall and his daughter, Jennifer Burns and her husband, James, and their children, James Wilson Burns II and Johnathon Mason Burns, all of Greensboro; William S. Duckwall and wife, Janet and their children, Lucas and Lee Duckwall, all of Santa Cruz, California; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private graveside service will be conducted at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Dr. David A. Cagle and Rev. Gary Campbell officiating. There will be a reception at the church following the memorial service.
