Mary Elizabeth Cooper

Mary Elizabeth Cooper, Blountville, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Johnson City Medical Center. She was a native of Surgoinsville, TN and had resided most of her adult life in Blountville. Mary attended Maryville College and received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from East Tennessee State College. She taught in Sullivan County Schools for 38 years. Mary attended Red Hats and the same Bridge Club for 50 years and was a member of Blountville United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Donald W. Cooper; parents, Paul and Edna Jennings Looney; grandparents, Molly and Isacc Taylor Jennings and Starnes and Rosa Looney.

Mary is survived by her son, Charles Lee Cooper; daughter, Paula Cooper Maness and husband, Don Maness, Jr.; grandchildren, Claudia and Cooper Maness.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 5-7:00 pm at Blountville United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Susan Arnold officiating.

The graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 pm at 621 Old Stage Rd. Surgoinsville, TN. 37873 (At First United Methodist in Surgoinsville)

Pallbearers will be Garth Blackburn, Wes Minga, Billy Davidson, Paul Looney, Will Davidson and Don Maness, Jr.
