Mary Lou McGaha Fugate, of Kingsport, went to be with Jesus Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at her home following a brief illness. She was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and attended the Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, knitting, quilting,
floral design, fishing, and was a top-notch cook. Mary Lou loved to read her Bible and cherished her relationship with the Lord. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all she met. She lived life to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Fugate; a son, Darrell Glen Fugate; and her parents, Robert Lee and Mary Nell McGaha; maternal grandparents, George and Lou Wright; and paternal grandparents, James and Bessie McGaha.
She is survived by her sister, Ann Burleson and husband, Bobby, of Kingsport; special niece, Melissa Brickey and husband, Shane, of Kingsport; special nephew, Jonathan Hobbs, of Kingsport; daughter Priscilla Livesay, of Church Hill; son, Tim Gilliam and wife, Teresa, of Church Hill; daughter-in-law Debra Fugate, of Kingsport; special grandchildren, Tiffany Lee Fugate, Summer Brickey, Sierra Brickey, and Cody Brickey; step-daughters, Lynda Salyer and husband, Wayne, of Kingsport, Brenda Herndon and husband, David, of Kingsport, and Barbara Drinnon and husband, Joe, of Church Hill; stepson David Fugate and wife, Lois, of Kingsport; stepgrandchildren, Heather Jones and James Jones; and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Services will be conducted on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Robert "Monk" Cole officiating.
Interment will follow at Emory United Methodist Church Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathan Hobbs, Sam Brickey, Darrell Hopkins, Charles Lindholm, Terry Fugate, Charles Lindholm, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Shane Brickey and Bobby Burleson.
