Mary Jane Kay Gibson, 77, died peacefully at her home on July 15, 2012.
Jane was born 1935 in Philadelphia, PA and attended schools in that area before moving to Kingsport after marrying her husband, Frank Gibson in 1957.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by family and a wide circle of friends.
She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. In the community she was active in Kingsport Junior League and for many years she was active as a volunteer in the Netherland Inn/Exchange Place Association, serving as President, Curator, Docent and Chairperson on numerous projects. She was an active member of the Delphian Club.
An avid reader, Jane enjoyed history, and loved to travel, especially in the British Isles exploring her British ancestry. She was talented at needlework and left many unique works. She enjoyed quiet contentment in her flower garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Mary Kay and one brother John L. Kay. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Frank Gibson; her son, Kevin; her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and John Gibson; her son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Kimberly Gibson; four grandchildren, Tiffany and her husband Taylor Cox, Dunkan Gibson, Lauren Gibson and Russell Gibson; a brother Samuel Kay and his wife Peggy; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Michelle Campbell who gave such loving care to Jane during her illness. They also wish to thank the staff of Amedysis Hospice Care who gave such excellent care.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday July 18 at 1:30pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park. A memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 2:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church, the Reverend Dr. David A. Cagle officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
