Mary Annis Sharpe Hudson, 79, Kingsport, went to be with Jesus at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, June 28, 2010.
She was born March 31, 1931 in Hawkins County, but had lived in Sullivan County most of her life. She retired from Brookhaven Nursing Home.
Mrs. Hudson attended Gospel Mission Freewill Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by her family who was the center of her life and especially Laura who gave such loving care for several years.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Elijah Sharpe, Jr. and James Hudson; her father, Robert Ward; stepmother, Mildred Ward; and brother, Olen Ward.
Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Conklin and husband Dwight, Jackie Mendenhall and husband Carroll, and Laura Stockton and husband Charlie; one son, Robert Sharpe and wife Debbie; brother, Larry Blankenship; sister, Judy Wallace; grandchildren, Dale Conklin, Dave Conklin, Brian Conklin, Chris Housewright, Kelly Jennings, Josh Mendenhall, Crystal Hickman, April Porter, Lydia Sharpe, Jamie Murray, and Beth Murray; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephew.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport and at the home of her daughter, Jackie Mendenhall, 438 Bell Hollow Road, Kingsport.
Services will follow at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Aaron Edens and Honorary Minister Orville Dolen officiating. Music will be provided by Kelly Jennings, Justin Addington, and Josh Mendenhall.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Light Cemetery with Pastor Wayne Gilliam officiating. Family and friends will meet at the cemetery at 10:45 a.m.
The family extends special thanks to Amedisys Health Care nurse, Kim Meade; hospice nurses, Becky Lee, Sandra Nadeau, Eleanor Graham, and Shelia Loyd; and special thanks to "Nurse Jennings" for all her "special care" she gave to "Mary".
