Mary Alice Kelly, age 78, of Kingsport, TN, went home to be with the Lord on April 28, 2019, as a result of a collision with an automobile that crossed the center line of traffic. Born in Louisville, KY on September 4, 1940, the daughter of Wallace M. Boyd and Nettie J. Boyd, she graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School, received her B.F.A. from Ohio Wesleyan University and pursued graduate studies in art at American University and The Art Students League of New York. She married Allan Kelly on August 3, 1963 at First Baptist Church of Kingsport.
She was an award winning local artist and a member of local art guilds, the Junior League of Kingsport, Christian Women’s Club and First Baptist Church of Kingsport. She was a treasure to her family and friends, demonstrating daily a loving kindness born from a deep and abiding relationship with Jesus.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Allan Kelly; daughters, Alice Corker and husband, Cliff, and Tricia Lancor and husband, David; sister, Ann Brandow and husband, Paul; brother, Wallace Boyd Jr. and wife, Jan; and four grandsons, John Lewis Corker, Matthew “Leland” Corker, Samuel Lancor and Daniel Lancor.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Kingsport, after which the family will receive friends. A private internment service will be held at Oak Hill Memorial Park prior to the Celebration of Life Service.
